Abstract: E-learning is becoming a more popular instruction method in the modern workplace but, as of yet, no standard exists for the quality associated with this type of instruction. ISO/IEC 19796-1 is an attempt to harmonise the various standards and quality measures that are drawn up to cover e-learning in different parts of the world.

Abstract: The topics of fairness, inclusion and equity in the workplace affect all employers in Canada. This article describes a Federal Government initiative to promote a cultural diagnosis and a study of best practices, the development of a skills profile to help manage equity and diversity, and the placement of workers in strategic positions to evaluate the effectiveness of the skills profile. The innovative tools developed will be shared with businesses and organizations across Canada.

  1. What key legislation in Canada affects how employers approach diversity?
  2. How could an organization learn from the tools described in the article? What would the benefit to the organization be?
  3. . Map out a brief implementation plan for a medium-sized business that wants to improve its policies, rules and procedures concerning fairness, inclusion and equity in the workplace.
